Out and about taking photos for TWWSI and waiting for the train from Notts to arrive, I popped into Old St.Pancras Cemetery, something i'd been meaning to do for quite some time. It's such a fascinating place - so much history, in fact I loved it so much that I'm going to make it a The Way We See It location in the near future (so not too many pictures today!)
This collection of head stones is known as the 'Hardy Tree' as Thomas Hardy was working as a trainee architect here and was required to come up with a solution for the reburial of a number of graves after the railway went through the old cemetery. One of the solutions was this ash tree. The tree was planted and the stone placed around it ... now the tree has grown through the stones and it's an amazing sight ....
